Child Counseling and Therapy

Child Counseling and TherapyWhen Your Child Needs Help

You love your child deeply and you want to do all you can to help when life is not going well for them. Perhaps your child is struggling academically or socially, refuses to cooperate, is withdrawn from you, or constantly fights with siblings. Maybe your toddler seems to challenge every limit you set or is biting or hitting. Or perhaps your child has a hard time making it through the day due to worries, inattention, or irritability.

When your child is struggling with emotional or behavioral problems, it impacts the whole family and frankly can be exhausting and overwhelming for parents. On top of that, finding a qualified professional therapist can be challenging. With my extensive experience as a child and family psychotherapist, I can help your child and you to address and resolve challenges such as these and many others.

Your Child Wants to Be Good!

Your child wants to be good, to cooperate and feel connected to family and friends. It might not seem like it when your child is yelling at you or breaking rules, but emotional distress can interfere with your child being able to be their best self. I can help your child find a way to feel better! I create a compassionate environment that children and teens feel safe to open up in and work toward making the change they desire in themselves and for their family.

I can help teens and their parents understand and apply the current research on adolescent brain development. Inherent strengths and resilience in the teen brain can be harnessed to support teens to live exciting and healthy lives! Adolescence does not have to be something for parents to dread!

I create developmentally appropriate treatment plans and use a variety of therapeutic approaches to meet the unique needs of your child and family. As appropriate, I work collaboratively with service providers such as schools, doctors and others. Family therapy and parent counseling are generally an important part of comprehensive treatment.
